Description:
An aromatic, expressive Pinot Noir from Martinborough with lovely restraint and lively red berry fruit. The palate is not just about the red berries, there is substance and depth with a fairly long finish. Well crafted and fairly long. Steve Smith MW. 100% Pinot Noir. Yields 46 hl/ha. 40% whole bunch, 60% destemmed, fermented in combination open-top oak cuves and stainless-steel tanks with inoculated yeasts. 10 months in French oak barriques of which 35% new. No fining. Coarse filtration. Bottled March 2012. pH 3.76, TA 5 g/l, RS 0 g/l. A rich charmer from Steve Smith MW. Not for Burgundy purists but chock full of flavour. Should sell well to Americans who like their Pinots chock full of fruit above all else. Jancis Robinson
Winery:
Craggy Range
Craggy range began with the desire to create a legacy when Terry Peabody visited New Zealand in 1997. Terry sensed an exciting possibility in New Zealand, the exceptional climate and spirit of the people aligned with his own philosophy and desire to cut a new path. He wanted to create wines that would become internationally regarded as New World classics. Today Craggy Range is without a doubt one of the most prestigious wineries from New Zealand, and well-reputed for its high quality wines, it surely does not come to a surprise that Craggy Range was crowned ‘New World Winery of the Year 2014’ by the Wine Enthusiast.
