Gnarly Head Old Vine Zinfandel is made using grapes sourced from gnarled 35-80-year-old head-trained vines. As some of the oldest vines in California, the fruit produced is exceptional, intense, and full-flavored. This intrepid Old Vine Zinfandel has a gnarly core of jammy blackberry and black cherry flavors with hints of black pepper, balanced by complex American and French oak toast. Try pairing this bold wine with braised short ribs, chicken enchiladas, or dark chocolate.

Gnarly Head all started with a vine. In 2004, when our winemakers began their quest to make America’s favorite Zinfandel, they sought out vineyards in the Zinfandel capital of the world: Lodi, California. The Zinfandel vines planted in these older vineyards are some of the oldest in California and are grown in the traditional freestanding “head-trained” way. These gnarled vines provide the inspiration for Gnarly Head as the wines these older vines create are bold, fullbodied, juicy and in other words, gnarly.
