日本釀造威士忌歷史需要較短，距今不足100年，但在近年威士忌風行的熱潮，擔當着重要的角色；相信好多酒友第一支買的威士忌，可能都係到日本旅遊時買的余市10年、響12、山崎18、竹鶴21等等。可惜以上種種如今都變得一瓶難求！

在威士忌熱潮下，日本威士忌酒廠的建立與復建，在近年正值雨後春筍，當中有不少值得留意的廠牌，讓大家在傳統Suntory與Nikka的出品以外，可以更全面地認識日本威士忌的風貌。
