Flavour: Slight bitterness given by the torrefied malt which then yields aromas of coffee, caramel and chocolate. A full-bodied, smooth beer in keeping with the best traditions of Belgian brewing. Appearance: Beige, compact, subtle and persistent foam; dark brown in colour, akin to monk's habit, free of suspended solids, but sometimes presents a yeast haze; soft carbonation. Bouquet: Torrefied, with notes of coffee, chocolate, carob, walnut and earthy, damp notes from the barrel staves, light liquorice, ripe medlar and caramel.
