Bodegas Montecillo
More than 140 years after the founding of the first bodega, Bodegas Montecillo maintains its solid philosophy of respect towards the vineyard, the selection of the best grape, a coherent wine production, ageing in high quality oak barrels and refining in the tranquillity of its impressing cellars, where bottles lay that are dated back to 1926, the same year that Rioja received the indication of a protected ``Designation of Origin``. We are actively committed to our natural, winemaking and human environment. Following this premise, Montecillo maintains relationships that go back decades with hundreds of vine growers in the area. This way of working and collaborating provides us, year after year, with the very best fruit from more than 800 parcels spread across the Rioja Alta. Located right next to the vineyards and supported by the latest advances in geolocalization, we can control the healthy vegetative cycle of the vines, the different stages in the ripening process and the final quality of the fruit, among other factors. Our name, Montecillo - or little mountain - honours the origin of it all, the irregular topography of the Rioja vineyards. And it is here, in the vines, that our main efforts are concentrated.
