Borie-Manoux was founded as Borie Freres in Pauillac in 1870. After 1945 one of the brothers, Marcel Borie, took over the existing company, renaming it Borie-Manoux and moving the headquarter directly to the city of Bordeaux. Marcel Borie ran the company until 1961, when his son-inlaw Emile Casteja took over; taking Borie-Manoux on the trail of expansion. Until today, the Casteja family remains 100%-shareholder of Borie-Manoux and has acquired 10 Chateaux in Bordeaux. During the 20th century, Borie-Manoux also acquired a number of Negociants and opened its own production and stocking facilities on 3 hectares surface directly in Bordeaux.
