Description:
Vineyard very close to the ocean on clay loam and the roots of 10-year-old vines just getting to the underlying limestone. Fermented in one 6,000-litre cuve and puncheons, with little new oak. Very little malo. Lively lemon/orange citrus. Tight, cool and one of the freshest Chardonnays in this line up so far, more stony and mineral than most, too. Cool, elegant, saline finish. Julia Harding MW
Winery:
Craggy Range
Craggy range began with the desire to create a legacy when Terry Peabody visited New Zealand in 1997. Terry sensed an exciting possibility in New Zealand, the exceptional climate and spirit of the people aligned with his own philosophy and desire to cut a new path. He wanted to create wines that would become internationally regarded as New World classics. Today Craggy Range is without a doubt one of the most prestigious wineries from New Zealand, and well-reputed for its high quality wines, it surely does not come to a surprise that Craggy Range was crowned ‘New World Winery of the Year 2014’ by the Wine Enthusiast.
