Domaine Jean-Rene Germanier
Founded in 1886, this estate is one of the oldest Swiss wineries. The forefather Urbain Germanier harvested his first vintage in Balavaud, Valais. Four generations later, Gilles Besse and Jean-Rene Germanier became the pioneers of a qualitative winemaking revolution in Switzerland, based on sustainable farming. Nowadays, Jean-Rene Germanier is one of only 3 Swiss wineries certified organic by Bio Suisse. Another focus of the estate is the rediscovery of forgotten traditional Valais varieties like Amigne and Petite Arvine, that find their best expression in the crisp and dry alpine climate of this beautiful corner of Switzerland.
