Description:
The nose already announces a concentrated, full-bodied wine. Notes of prunes, chocolate, tobacco and blackcurrant. Absolute seduction of the palate. This elegant concentration of fruit goes down smoothly and elegantly, with hints of prunes and cloves. A full wine in every drop. The tannins are fine and delicate and the balance perfect. A balmy indulgence and the first step to the excellent Grattamacco wines.
Winery:
"Grattamacco was founded in 1977. The estate is situated on top of a hill facing the sea between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri at 100 m asl. The area is particularly dedicated to the production of great wines and enjoys a dry climate with consistent thermal excursions at the end of the summer. The estate extends over an area of about 74 hectares, of which 27 are vineyards and 10 are olive groves. The remaining area is forest and borders into a vast area of woodlands covering some 1,600 hectares. In the steep and hilly vineyards, with an average eight percent incline, wines are trained to Cordone speronato, to Guyot and to Alberello with yields of around 6 to 7 tons per hectare. The average age of the vineyards is about 25 years."
Wine Making:
A wine from a vineyard of 10 hectares located 100 m above sea level, where the vines flourish for 20 years on average. The moderate soils enjoy a gentle Mediterranean climate. The density of vines is 4500 to 5400 per hectare, which yields approximately 7000 kg of grapes. Cordon pruning and vine training keep the balance; And harvesting is exclusively manual. Vinification begins with open must fermentation in conical oak fermentation barrels. Following this, the wine matures for ten months in the malolactic fermentation in barriques, some of which are two years old, while others are three years old. 6 months of bottle maturation then follows.
