The elegant, softer, more open red fruit profile of the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde, combines with the lifted, darker blue fruit of the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge to create unusually complex fruit aromas, while the more muscular, structured, dark spice and tension of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley adds an additional layer of complexity to the wine.
Since 1975, Hamilton Russell’s terroir driven Pinot noir and Chardonnay have set the bar for South African wine. As one of the most southerly wine estates in South Africa and one of the closest to the sea - just 3 kilometres adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, they aim to produce wines that could express the beauty and personality of this cool, maritime region. Their elegant, highly individual estate grown Pinot noir and Chardonnay are widely regarded as the best in South Africa and among the finest in the New World.
