Deep purple-red. Lifted black lum, blackberry and blueberry with hints of earth, anise and spice, savoury oak. Elegant expression of rich dark fruits with some earth savouriness and smoked meat flavours. Long and intense with excellent fruit purity and freshness, finishing with a taut backbone and persistent fine tannin structure.

JOHN DUVAL is an internationally recognized winemaker. In 1989, he was named international Winemaker of the Year at the UK’s 1989 International Wine & Spirit Competition. In 1991, and again in 2000, he was named Red Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine Challenge in London. After 29 years as a winemaker with Penfolds, he established his eponymous brand in 2003 and is focused on crafting wines from old-vine Barossa fruit. The winery is rated 5 Stars by James Halliday and total production is very limited, which is why the wines are so highly prized.
