The Sentinels represent the best qualitative expression, in the context of Morellino di Scansano DOCG, of the Mantellassi Farm. Le Sentinelle is a vineyard of 2.5 hectares cultivated on the homonymous hillock, the most miserly of the many hills on which the 50 hectares of the Fattoria's vineyard extends. It is obtained from the vinification of Morellino grapes, an indigenous Sangiovese clone which gave its name to the DOCG. On the initiative of the Fattoria Mantellassi, from the Le Sentinelle vineyard a clonal selection of the Morellino vine took place, carried out by the Vivai Cooperativi Rauscedo, which led to the homologation, for the first time in Italy as not existing, the three clones of Sangiovese Morellino.
