Michele Satta
Michele Satta is an estate in the Bolgheri appellation of Tuscany and is most recognized for its range of Bolgheri DOC wines, as well as its portfolio of varietal IGT Toscana wines. The company was founded by Michele Satta in 1983, although the first vineyard wasn't planted until 1991. Satta planted Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese and Syrah in the vineyard, which led to the first vintage of Piastraia in 1994. In 2012, this wine was classified as a Bolgheri Superiore. Over the years, the estate has expanded to encompass 23 hectares (57 acres) of company-owned and leased vineyards. This increase has also been reflected in the number of grape varieties grown, which now also includes Teroldego, Viognier, Vermentino and Sauvignon Blanc.
