Description:
Ruby red colour with intense garnet highlights. Its bouquet embraces the nose with hints of ripe black cherries, marasca cherries, ending with a spicy aroma of cinnamon, black pepper, cocoa and coffee. It is a structured wine, silky and embracing, and extremely elegant that holds all the typical characteristics of the Classica zone. Its soft and juicy marasca cherry effuses with a great expression of balsam.

The Montecariano Estate is owned by Mariella Gini together with her 2 sons, Marco and Matteo. These brothers, continuing a family tradition which dates back to the last century, are a very dynamic and vibrant duo that brought Montecariano wines to a higher standard of quality. Marco is the winemaker of the pair, taking charge of all the production processes, from the vineyards to the cellars; while Matteo is the businessman, overseeing sales, communications and marketing. The winery covers 27 hectares of limestone, clay, and fossil rich soils located in the hills of the San Pietro in the Cariano valley of Verona, and produces 15,000 bottles per year. The environment represents a natural amphitheatre crossed from east to west by lush wild vegetation, creating the perfect ecosystem for insects to protect the vineyards.
Wine Making:
Harvested: in September, exclusively by hand. Only the bunches in the best condition from a technological, health and morphological viewpoint are selected. Drying: the grapes are left to dry for about 3 months in drying rooms with controlled temperature and humidity. Fermentation: between December and January the grapes are destemmed and crushed softly to respect the integrity of the peel. They are then fermented in stainless steel tanks with continuous and extended pressing, and the grape must is oxygenated for about 50 days with delastage at a controlled temperature of 8°-25° C. Maturation: in wooden barrels for about 36 months. Ageing: 12 months in the bottle.
