Description:
MasonVibrant appearance showing subtle green hues and golden core. Defined by a sensation of delicacy and class, the complex nose displays floral notes of peach blossom and subtle marzipan, whilst retaining a profile of bright citrus aromatics. The palate enters with a fine bead of citrus acidity followed by succulent nectarine-like flavours.
Winery:
Mulderbosch Vineyards
Mulderbosch Vineyards is a South African wine producer founded in 1989 in the Koelenhof region of Stellenbosch. It produces a range of wines including a Bordeaux blend, a barrel-fermented Chardonnay and a partially barrel-fermented Chenin Blanc. However, it is the Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé that is made in the greatest quantities, with up to 50,000 cases produced each year. The estate was originally a rundown fruit farm before being converted into vineyard with around 25 hectares (61 acres) under vine. Mulderbosch was acquired by a California-based investor, Terroir Capital, in 2011 – the purchase of which included the estate vineyards and winery as well as the current range of wines. Grapes for Mulderbosch's wines come from both the estate vines as well as grower vineyards. The Cabernet Sauvignon Rosé is one of the driving forces of the estate. The grapes are harvested two-three weeks earlier than if they were being used to produce red table wine. They are then crushed and de-stemmed, macerated to extract color and then cold fermented. These processes allow for the aromatic characteristics of Cabernet Sauvignon to emerge alongside a higher natural acidity.
