Description:
It is a wine of intensity and complexity that shows better with lots of aeration, like up to 24 hours. It has aromas of fresh blueberries, blackberries, roasted meat, wild flowers and white pepper. When it was bottled, it showed more blue/black fruit aromas but since then has also revealed bright aromas of raspberry/blackberry/red cherry. The first taste impressions offer seemingly simple blackberry, blueberry flavors with medium body and soft tannins. With a few hours of aeration, it transforms into a totally different wine of palate-coating, rich texture with firm and vibrant acidity from start to finish that lifts the darker fruit flavors. Intriguing flavors of sweet brandied cherries and hints of root beer/sarsaparilla, spicy fruit and herb, mineral characteristic, make it almost like a cool-climate Syrah with northern rhone-like meatiness. Given the ample tannins, it would be a good candidate for 8-10 years in ageability.
